A demo of an independent hair salon's website, online booking that handles skin tests and processing time, and the front-desk appointment book that checks clients in, takes payment and rebooks them.
Aubrelle Studio is a fictional independent hair salon. We built it as a working demo of the three things a salon runs on: its website, its online booking, and the appointment book on the front desk.

The product
They share one diary. A client who books online appears in the book straight away, marked as new and online, with the skin test they booked alongside it. When reception checks them in, takes payment and rebooks them, the client's own appointment page updates to match.
It is built around the parts of a salon diary that general booking tools get wrong: colour that needs a skin test 48 hours before, processing time when the stylist is free to take someone else, and prices that depend on who does the work.
How we approached it
We started from how independent UK salons present themselves online and how salon software handles the diary. The website follows the conventions of established salon sites: a price list with a column for each stylist level, a page for each stylist, the salon's work, what to expect at a visit, and the skin test and deposit policies stated plainly.
Booking follows the rules salons actually use. Colour services need a skin test at least 48 hours before, so the booking offers one and moves the earliest date to suit. Deposits apply to colour and to longer appointments. Moves and cancellations inside 48 hours go to the phone.
Processing time is modelled as it is in salon software: while colour develops, the stylist is free, so a fringe trim or a consultation can be booked inside it. On the front desk those minutes are hatched and the shorter appointment sits inset within them.
The front desk is laid out as a tablet on the reception counter, like the salon apps it is modelled on, not as a desktop back office. Checkout adds retail products, takes off the deposit and asks to rebook with the same stylist at the usual interval for that service.
All of the data is fictional. The postcode area does not exist, the phone number is from Ofcom's range reserved for drama, every client and stylist is invented, and no photograph shows a member of the team. Nothing is stored or sent.
What we built
- Product design and build
- Full salon website: price list by stylist level, colour, cutting and treatment pages, team and stylist pages, our work, your visit, gift vouchers, contact and legal pages
- Online booking in five steps, with skin tests, processing time, stylist levels and deposits
- Client appointment page: move or cancel within the salon's rules, hair history and skin test record
- Front-desk appointment book: check-in, client card with colour formulas, checkout with retail, and rebooking
Inside the app
A complete salon website
A price list by stylist level, category and stylist pages, the salon's work, what to expect at a visit with the policies and questions, and gift vouchers with a live preview.
Booking that knows about skin tests
Colour services ask about a recent skin test. Without one, the booking offers a test slot at least 48 hours before and only shows dates after it.
Stylist levels and prices
Choose a stylist or the first available. Every option shows its own price for the chosen services, and first available starts with the lowest price.
Processing time in the diary
Colour appointments are split into working and processing time, and the stylist can take a shorter appointment while colour develops.
The client's own appointment page
Move to another time with the same stylist, cancel outside 48 hours, see the deposit and balance, and send a hair history before a first colour.
Checkout and rebooking
The client card shows skin test status, hair history and colour formulas. Checkout adds retail, takes off the deposit and offers three rebooking slots.
Aubrelle Studio is an invented business used for demonstration, and every client and stylist in it is invented. The demo stores nothing, sends nothing, and is not connected to any real salon software.
