The product

A free Islamic companion app for iPhone and iPad, with a web app at deenguide.org. It combines an AI assistant that answers from the Quran and authentic Hadith with a Quran reader, prayer times, a Qibla compass, quizzes and a short library.

The challenge

Generating an answer to a religious question is easy; giving one a reader can check is not.

The assistant also had to sit beside tools people open every day (prayer times, Quran audio, widgets), and those have to behave the way a native iOS app does.

Product decisions

01
Answers that cite their sources
Answers are grounded in the Quran and authentic Hadith and cite what they drew from, so a reader can check them. The app directs formal fatwas and complex rulings to a qualified scholar.
02
Native, not wrapped
The Quran reader, the word-by-word synced audio and the Home and Lock Screen widgets are built natively for iOS.
03
No account to get started
The app is free and can be used without signing up. A question about your religion should not begin with a form.
04
Prayer times that work unattended
Times follow the user's location and include the London Unified Prayer Timetable. A later release made notifications more reliable when the app stays closed for weeks.

Outcome

DeenGuide launched on the App Store on 27 February 2026 and runs on the web at deenguide.org. It holds a 4.8 rating on the App Store.

It is still maintained: version 1.0.4 is current, and its release notes are on this page.

DeenGuide provides educational content to support your learning. Always refer to a qualified Islamic scholar for formal Fatwas and complex legal rulings.
