Cost, timing and ownership

What does a project cost?

It depends on scope, so we quote rather than publish prices. A small marketing site is a different order of cost to an app with accounts, payments and a backend. Tell us what you have in mind and you will get a written quote with a fixed price before any work starts.

How long does it take?

You get a delivery date with the quote, and early warning if anything threatens it. As a guide, we plan two to four weeks for a straightforward website and eight to sixteen for a first version of an app, depending on what it has to do.

Who owns the code and the accounts?

You do. The repository, store listing, domain and hosting sit in your own accounts from the start, and intellectual property in the work is assigned to you on payment. If you take the work in-house or to another studio, there is nothing to untangle.

Before we start

Do you build for Android as well as iOS?

We take on both. Our record so far: our own apps, DeenGuide and Mosque Radar, are native iOS and live on the App Store; neither is on Google Play yet. If the budget covers one platform first, we look at where your users are and recommend which.

What do you need from me to prepare a quote?

A short description of what you want to build, who it is for and any deadline. Designs or examples of products you like help but are not essential; the first call fills the gaps. We will sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement first if you want one.

How do payments work?

Fixed-scope builds are invoiced in stages tied to delivery, typically a deposit on signature and the balance across the remaining stages. Ongoing arrangements are invoiced monthly. Zero Horizon Ltd is a UK-registered company and invoices in pounds sterling.

During and after the build

What if my requirements change during the project?

We assess the effect of any change on cost and schedule and agree it with you in writing before proceeding. The price changes only if you approve a change in writing.

How involved do I need to be?

At minimum, a short review at the end of each stage. Plan for an hour or two a week to try builds and answer questions; we keep decisions moving without daily meetings.

Can you take over a project someone else started?

Often. We review the existing code first and tell you whether it is worth continuing or whether a rebuild would cost less over time.

What happens after launch?

Every build includes a support window after release, its length set out in your quote, for anything that surfaces once real users arrive. After that, a monthly arrangement for updates and new features is available. It is optional and never a condition of the build.
